Once again the United Fund of Calumet needs your help. We have begun our collection campaign for 2011. Everyone is busy, but hopefully not too busy to carefully read this letter. We are asking for your continued support to raise $5,500 to help the organizations listed on the back of this letter. Your help and your financial support are needed to do that. Some of these groups depend solely on contributions from United Fund of Calumet. Please give what you can—every dollar helps. Contributions can be made to United Fund of Calumet at Clifford Bank at any of their locations or to: United Fund of Calumet PO Box 103 Clarksville, MO 63336 We continue to make available special recognition cards for anyone who would like to make a donation to remember a special person. Who do you know or remember with special ties to the community? Perhaps it is someone with a special connection to one of the organizations that United Fund of Calumet supports. We plan to continue the project with GRC Wireless Recycling (www.grcrecycling.com), a company in Miramar, Florida, that specializes in cell phone recycling. During the last campaign we collected 56 phones and would like to reach a goal this year of collecting at least 100 unused phones. Look for posters and drop off locations at Clopton School, CBC Banks, churches, and local businesses. Don’t let your old phone sit in a drawer or go to a land fill. Two other fundraising events were added last year—the Dessert Raffle and the Ice Cream Social. The Dessert Raffle was well received. The winner, Bill McMurtrey, won a dessert a month for 9 months. Look for details about the next Dessert Raffle. The Ice Cream Social was held on Sunday, August 29, and brought out about 200 people who enjoyed food, music, and friends. The event was profitable for our cause and fun for those who attended. Watch the newspapers and look for posters for details about the 2nd Annual Ice Cream Social for the United Fund of Calumet next summer.
